Sealing

Process in which a material is welded/sealed to itself or another.

This can be done under the influence of heat or cold (cold seal). By definition, welding by means of a welding agent (e.g. in the form of an electrode in metal welding) is a joining process. In the field of plastics, welding and sealing are often used synonymously.
