Tear test

Testing with the Elmendorf device is a dynamic (abrupt) test.

First, a defined sample is taken from the film to be tested. This is designed in such a way that the resulting tear must always be the same length, regardless of the direction in which it will run.The test itself is carried out with a pendulum impact tester, which tears the pre-cut, incised sample with falling speed.The measured value is given in mN.
