Tensile test

During the test, the tensile strength (N/mm2) and the elongation at break (%) are mainly determined with slow loading of the test specimen and at a constant test speed v (for films from 100-500 mm/min).

The tensile strength represents the tensile force related to the initial cross-section of the specimen. The determined elongation is the change in length related to the clamping length. The values are measured in the extrusion direction of the film and transverse to it. In addition, the 2% secant modulus is often determined. This indicates the tensile stiffness.A video on the tensile test can be found here.
