Newton

The Newton is the SI unit of force. It was named after the British scientist Isaac Newton.

One Newton is therefore the force required to accelerate a stationary body of mass 1 kg to the speed 1 m/s within one second. This corresponds approximately to the weight of a body of mass 102 g at sea level. The mean acceleration due to gravity is gN = 9.80665 m/s² and the unit is N.
