GC-MS- Screening (non-target analysis) semiquantitative
GC-MS (gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry) screening is a method for the comparative, semi-quantitative evaluation of liquid samples with regard to identity, purity and presence of impurities. The substances detectable by this method are, as with any method limited, here by their molar mass and polarity. The method can be used, for example, to analyze solvent samples and solvent-based surface extracts for impurities. A typical field of application is the investigation of adhesion problems from the printing, laminating and labeling sector.
Substances with molecular weights of appr. 100- 700 Dalton (resp. app. 100- 700 g/mol) are principally detectable.
